Making meaningful connections starts with kindness, honesty and respect. Whether you’re sending a Wink or chatting with someone new, a little courtesy can make everyone’s experience on RSVP more enjoyable.
We encourage all members to communicate respectfully, be genuine about their intentions and remember that there’s a real person behind every profile.
Here are a few simple tips for making positive connections on RSVP.
1. Be Honest About Your Interest
A Wink is a free way to show someone you’re interested without using a Stamp.
If you receive a Wink, we encourage you to respond, even if you’re not interested. RSVP offers a range of standard Wink replies, including positive responses and polite ways to decline.
If someone isn’t quite what you’re looking for, simply select Not Interested.
Being honest about your intentions helps avoid misunderstandings and allows both members to focus on connections that feel right for them.
2. Be Considerate When Responding to Messages
When someone uses a Stamp to contact you, they’ve made an effort to start a conversation.
If you’re comfortable doing so, consider sending a polite reply, even if you don’t feel a connection.
A simple, friendly response can help the other person understand where they stand.
However, you’re never obligated to respond or continue a conversation, especially if you feel uncomfortable or unsafe.
3. Respect Other Members’ Decisions
Not everyone you contact will be interested, and that’s a normal part of online dating.
If someone responds Not Interested to your Wink or chooses not to reply, respect their decision and avoid repeatedly contacting them.
Remember, Winks are free, and if a Wink expires, you may be able to send another. However, it’s important to respect the other person’s boundaries, particularly if they’ve already declined your interest.
There are plenty of opportunities to meet other members who may be a better match.
4. Keep Your Conversations Friendly and Respectful
When chatting with someone new:
- Be genuine: Introduce yourself honestly and avoid misleading information.
- Be polite: Treat others with the same courtesy you’d appreciate receiving.
- Respect boundaries: Don’t pressure someone to respond, share personal details or continue a conversation.
- Keep things appropriate: Avoid offensive, sexually explicit or unwanted messages and images.
- Be patient: Everyone has their own pace when getting to know someone.
A thoughtful message that mentions something from the other person’s profile can be a great way to start a conversation.
5. Use the Block Feature When Needed
If you don’t want another member to view your profile or contact you, you can block them.
Once blocked, the member won’t be able to view your profile or communicate with you through RSVP.
Blocking is a useful way to manage unwanted attention and maintain your personal boundaries.
6. Report Inappropriate Behaviour
We want RSVP to be a welcoming and respectful place for everyone.
If another member sends inappropriate messages, behaves disrespectfully, harasses you or breaches our Community Guidelines, you can report their profile through RSVP.
We review reports and may take action where appropriate, including restricting or suspending accounts that violate our guidelines.
If you’re concerned about an interaction, it’s also helpful to keep relevant messages or screenshots as a record.
7. Stay Safe and Trust Your Judgement
Getting to know someone new can be exciting, but it’s important to take your time.
Avoid sharing sensitive personal information too quickly, be cautious about moving conversations outside RSVP and never feel pressured to do something you’re uncomfortable with.
Remember, you have the right to decide who you communicate with and when to end a conversation.
A little kindness, honesty and mutual respect can go a long way towards making RSVP a better experience for everyone.
